Adirondack Chair Plans
The Adirondack Chair: The Beautiful Simple Chair The great thing about the Adirondack chair is it apparent simplicity of design, indeed it has such charm that it doesn’t look designed at all.
I love the simple straight line construction and it’s no nonsense looks. This though belies the beauty of the chair, and the endless varieties you could explore once you have the basic process mastered.
Never mind the feeling of satisfaction you would have from having constructed a few to have in your own yard. Or inside even given the right setting.
It is such an attractive chair with rustic yet sophisticated lines and really not that complex to build.
From fairly easy to obtain stock too, though I guess you could go as exotic as you felt the desire to in that department.
You could use any wood really from recycled pallets to something truly special and anything in between. So the cost could be close to nothing just the fittings and maybe a finish of some kind to purchase.
Though certainly it would cost way less than buying one from a retail outlet.
Plus you get to say “I made that’.
You don’t need a lot of fancy tools either simple hand and basic power tools would be more than sufficient. Might make a good excuse for an upgrade here or there though.
Not a ridiculous amount of hours would be required to turn one out and it would only get easier after the first one.
Then you could start to play with the basic design and and any touches, tweeks or flourishes you could think of.
Especially if you are using cheaper (hey or free) stock. Arched backs, integral cup holders, matching foot stool or a sunshade even would all be great and impressive custom adoptions.
Get the base design under your belt and you could make some as very special presents for others too. A pair and a simple table would be a great thing to give I think.
Finished or painted to suit your recipients own tastes or decor would blow anything you might buy away in a heartbeat.
You couldn’t beat the feeling of sitting on summer’s evening with a cooling drink in a stylish chair that you have built with your own hands.
